The Incredible Kacy

Summer is right around the corner and you know what that means...maxi dress weather! And I found the maxi of all maxis...I mean I am in deep love with the Kacy Maxi dress from Height Goddess!

Just look at the length! It comes in 68" and 72" lengths and the pattern is print perfect. It's seriously effortless and versatile and as a matter of fact, I have 3 ways to wear this beautiful, Tall dress for you right now!

1. WORK

You can wear the Kacy Maxi Dress to work by adding some simple things that you have in your closet; blazer, neutral shoe, statement necklace, belt and bag. The belt gives the dress some shape and the blazer makes the dress office appropriate. In the summer, pick a lightweight 3/4 sleeve blazer like this one from Forever 21.

After a long day at work, it's time for a night out with the ladies right? Check out how you can change this maxi up with some very simple steps...

2. NIGHT

Take that blazer off and add some sassy frosting. Swoop that hair to the side and change the dynamics of the dress by tying it in a little knot at the bottom of the maxi. An instant night look in a snap. PS, Add a statement shoe like the Rollie from Smash Shoes to set your maxi-night look off!

Now for the DAY look...

The Kacy gives a new definition to effortless-chic. Really, you could rock this baby barefoot with absolutely no accessories and be the darling of the day. For my day look, I threw on some fringe boots from Payless, one of my favorite necklaces of the season from Candid Art and a floppy hat to finish the look.

Maxi dresses are Tall essentials in my book. When you find one that is long and versatile like the Kacy, it's a win-win-win situation. It proves it's worth in the fact that you can wear it 3 ways and I for one am a happy camper!

I hope you liked my looks and I would love to hear how you rock your maxi dresses. Please leave a comment below or tag your looks with @TallSWAG. See ya on the flip side!

#TallGirlInTheTunnel

As you know (or maybe not), I work for the Golden State Warriors. Right about now, at this point in the season, we are crazy busy. Not only are we finishing our regular season games (12 home games this month alone), we are also preparing for the Playoffs. It has been quite the month to say the least. Definitely blessed to be here, but we are workin yall!

With that said, I have been serving some major #TallGirlInTheTunnel posts and I thought I would tie them all together in a lovely post just because :-)

What in the Sam Hill is the #TallGirlInTheTunnel?

Well my friends, I stand in my heels in the north tunnel (a.k.a. the tunnel that the visiting team runs out of ) during the games. I direct the Warriors TV pregame show and then I am a stage manager for all of the talent and contests that come out of the north side during the actual game. While out and about in The Bay I often get, Hey! You are that Tall Girl In the Tunnel! Thus, BOOM! #TallGirlInTheTunnel

So here are 6 looks that I werked while I worked. Click on the photos for all of the details on my Instagram. I would love to hear which one is your favorite in the comments below.

In The Slow Lane

I am sure you have noticed that I have been posting a lot less lately both on my site and on social media. There are many reasons for this but the main and most important one is that I was on a Daniel Fast.

What is a Daniel Fast you ask?

The Daniel Fast is a spiritually based partial fast that is usually 21 days of abstaining from foods specified unclean by God in the Laws of Moses. During the fast you are to focus on God and be in intense prayer, Bible study and reflection. The intention of the fast is not about the diet yet the change in diet is a tool of focus to draw you closer to God.

So what do I have to give up?

Let’s focus on the positive shall we? This is what is included in your diet during the 21 day period:

-All fruits

-All vegetables

-All whole grains (including whole wheat pastas and tortillas)

-All nuts and seeds

-All legumes

-All quality oils

-All unsweetened milks derived from nuts (i.e. coconut, almond etc.)

-All forms of pure water

-Tofu and soy products

-Vinegar

-All seasonings, salt, herbs and spices

-All Vegetable based protein powders with no sugar additives

*Quick Daniel Fast Tip: Chipotle and Jamba Juice are both Daniel Fast friendly. I wouldn’t recommend eating them often during the fast but they are great in a pinch. Jamba Juice has all fruit smoothies and Chipotle has sofritas instead of meat. Add their grilled veggies, brown rice, guacamole and other natural ingredients for a filling on-the-go meal.

I am certainly not a chef but here are some of the random things I made and ate while on the fast: Vegetable based protein (you can find at whole foods and Target. For the best results, blend it with peanut butter, almond milk and fruit)/Kale, fresh…

I am certainly not a chef but here are some of the random things I made and ate while on the fast: Vegetable based protein (you can find at whole foods and Target. For the best results, blend it with peanut butter, almond milk and fruit)/Kale, fresh tomato, walnut and garlic almond milk sauce over whole grain penne pasta/Hummus with toasted pine nuts/Daniel Fast cookies/Preparation for the fast (super important)/Almond butter, bananas and strawberries on a brown rice cake/Daniel Fast Chili with a kale, apple, balsamic-olive oil salad and strawberry, lime and mint water/Whole grain oats with almond milk, almond butter, cinnamon, pecans, blueberries and raisins/Delallo Organic Whole Grain Pasta (which was my favorite brand on the fast)/For more Daniel Fast recipes, click HERE or the photo.

And that my friend is it. No dairy, sugar, coffee, meat, sweeteners, leavened breads, solid fats, fried refined or processed foods.  I know this list is daunting but whatever you do, don’t stop reading now.

I can’t even lie. The first 3 days were hard. I found myself completely addicted to coffee. It was sad really. I come from a family with addictive tendencies and because of that, I have never tried even a sip of alcohol or any type of drug. I don’t want to start because I never want to finish. By no means am I comparing coffee to alcohol and drugs but as soon as I stopped drinking it, it became very apparent that my body was addicted to it. I had a terrible headache and literally couldn’t keep my eyes open. It was a humbling reminder that gluttony comes in many forms, even in a sweet cup of coffee.

Throughout the 21 days I dropped 11 pounds and after the first 3 days had an amazing amount of energy that I was not expecting. My skin cleared up and I really enjoyed finding different ways to cook the food that was included in the fast. To be honest, the nutrition part of the fast was quite easy for me. As a matter of fact, I plan to extend it in many ways. While I will enjoy sugar, meat, coffee and fried foods from time to time, giving them up showed me how much I do not consistently need them.

The spiritual part however, was a bit more challenging and incredibly revealing. As I dove in to the plan, I began reading the Bible more and really praying specific prayers about things I am struggling with. I became frustrated because this practice is not something I should do just on the fast. This is something I should do in my everyday life. Why does it take a fast for me to spend consistent, quality time with God? It shouldn’t and moving forward it will not. For me, this spiritual slap in the face in itself made the fast successful. I love God, he is the center of my life, but I need to spend more time with Him plain and simple.

Another thing began to occur (especially towards the end of the fast)…I started being attacked from every angle.  A string of disappointing, soul stirring things arose that just baffled me. I was putting in the work, so why was this happening? Honestly, I let them get the best of me until I realized that a worthwhile walk will never be easy. This walk with HIM was never promised to be clear. In fact, Christian’s are targets for challenges. Tests and trails are the sand paper of our lives that shape us in to the exact person that God needs us to be. This is a lesson that we continually learn throughout our life and I certainly heard it loud and clear on this fast.

Overall, the fast revealed weaknesses in me that need a heck of a lot more training both spiritually and nutritionally. It slowed me down, showed me myself and I am incredibly grateful for every single moment of it. Ignorance is not bliss. Many people walk through life with spiritual blinders on thinking that they are right with the Lord, while all the while your steps are going in the wrong direction. No matter where you are in your walk with Christ, take time to slow down and assess your relationship with Him. This time I did this with the Daniel Fast and we must live our lives doing this in various, continual ways. I look forward to sharing in this process with you!

Stand Tall every day, in every way.

Hot Like Fire

Guess what drops today? Get excited! It's the brand spankin new TTYA X LTS collection and as always it is breathtaking! The colors are rich, the selection is outstanding and if the rest of the collection is like this Denim Jumpsuit and Bobble Trim Crop Top...sign me up for every piece!

These high waisted overalls are AH-MA-ZING! I am 6'6" and as you can see they are plenty long. The cut of the wide leg is just enough. You get this look and balance that is really hard to find in a wide leg pant. Literally the best Tall overalls a Tall Girl could ask for...#swoon!

Now for the Bobble Trim Crop Top. The fabric is super soft and flowy. I love where it hits us (where a crop top should) and the on-trend, off-the-shoulder situation, is beautiful (werk those shoulders ladies). It also has shoulder straps for a little more security but I liked the bare decollete, so I tucked them in.

This look doesn't need much else, so I just added a neutral shoe, dainty ring and called it a haute day.

Wanna see the rest of the collection? I don't blame you,,.it's crazy good! Check out this slide show and click any of the images below for more information on the new TTYA X LTS line. It will be hard but try not to drool on your phone or computer. Happy #TTYA4LTS Day Tall beauties!

I completely get it. There are just some days where comfort it key. Those moments when you want to melt into a pair of sweats. Without a doubt, put them on a snuggle up! But sometimes those days fall on occasions where your typical sweats don't match the event that you are going too. Never fear! Accessories are here!

Pick out a comfy base. To pump up the chic simplistic vibe, I usually go for a solid color base but do you boo. Then throw on some statement shoes (that can easily be switched out for tennies right after the event) like these hawt mesh Michelle booties from Smash Shoes. I am in absolute LOVE! They come in sizes; 11, 11w, 12, 12w, 13 and 14 and also come in black (yes, you have seen them before because I rocked the black option in a previous post). And guess what? They are on sale right now for $79!

To finish the look I added this statement necklace from Forever 21. Under $10 and adds just the right amount of pow to this look.

Now I know you are dying to know! Where did you get those tall joggers!? I got them from Long Elegant Legs which is now a part of tall style powerhouse, Long Tall Sally. This style is no longer available but they have this 36" inseam option is is equally as awesome. There are also these options from Alloy Apparel in 37" as well.

So don't sweat the sweat days. Pump them up and rock them out! :-)

Roc Rio

There is nothing like a custom piece of clothing and I found a local (Oakland, CA) designer (who also happens to be my friend:) that creates some amazing pieces that he will make specifically for you. While designer Rickie Lee has Roc Rio Designs for purchase right off the rack, he will custom tailor the length of the arms and torso just for Y-O-U and anyone that you want him to design for. Simply enter your information, the garment and your desired customization on his contact page. You will not be disappointed! I love my Sheath hoodie and you might just see me running around The Bay in it on a regular basis:-) PS. If something is out of stock online, you can still request it on the contact page.

Let's address the elephant in the room...technically this is a men's line BUT WHO CARES. When it's custom it's YOUR piece and really no matter what a garment is originally intended for, you can rock it however you dang well please. Moving on...

Now for the overall look...I added a faux leather mini to pump it up a little and some over the knee boots (which are almost out of stock, similar here) because I can and they are fabulous. It's really hard to go wrong with this chic hoodie. You can (and I do) wear it with anything. You can dress it up or completely down. It's a versatile, comfy-chic piece (and we all know that comfy-chic is my thing).

Thanks for your style voice Mr. Rickie Lee:-) Your creativity is felt and completely appreciated. I wish nothing but great things for your line and love seeing people Roc Rio around the world!
