Right now we have some spring in our step and summer is on the way but it's April and what does that mean...showers.  Yep.  It's that time where the weather is beautiful one minute and raining the next.

My cure for confused weather is layers.  I will wear anywhere from 2 to 3, depending on what Al Roker and my local weather woman Christina Loren tell me in the morning.  That way I will always stay warm (being cold is not my favorite thing to do), and still look great if I have to peel off the top layer.

In this case I have 2 layers on.  The first; an all black, lightweight foundation of Height Goddess Skinny Jeans and the very versatile HG Long Sleeve Crew tee.  I wear their long sleeved tees all of the time.  The arms are SUPER long which is always a good thing.  The second; the green sweater cape from Method Boutique.  It's very long in the body and is cut so the baggy look doesn't look sloppy.  Both layers can definitely look great on their own.

The last thing I always do in spring is lighten up the look with neutral frosting.  Light accessories can change the entire look and feel of an outfit.  Trust me.  Take one of your fall/winter looks and change up the accessories to spring friendly colors.  You will feel like you have a whole new fit.

Leggy Day

Man...it's been a long time since I posted last and the honest answer is...I have been working non-stop.  As some of you may know, I am the Game Operations Manager for the Golden State Warriors (NBA Team in Oakland, CA) and right now is the busiest part of our season.  In this month alone we have 11 games and a huge food and wine event (that is OVER because we had it last night...woo hoo!).  In addition, we are pre-preparing for the Playoffs.  All of this makes for a really tired, yet still glam, Alicia.

I know when I am busy, in any off time that I get, I like to be comfortable.  For some reason leggings and boots do the trick.  It's kind of like wearing a pair of pajamas without the world knowing.  I absolutely love these 38" inseam pattern leggings from method boutique (they are on sale for $14 right now).  In fact, I love them some much that I featured the black option in my last post.  I added my go-to Nine West boots, wrist candy, H&M oversized sweater and my new bag from The Collage Clothing Lounge.  I love it because you can wear it as a backpack, crossbody bag and shoulder bag.

I have been a fan of hers from WAY back.  Her style is always flawless.  I don't care if she is in mismatched workout gear, she is the epitome of FIERCE.  So when I clicked on her blog and saw my face, I almost fell on my face! For her to classify me as stylish is a fashion honor.  I immediately got up and made an acceptance speech.  It went something like: Today I have crossed the threshold into fashion fabulousness.  I would like to thank my Mama and The Academy.  It sounded a lot better and far more emotional at the time.  I am still waiting for my award.  Apparently it's in the mail.

Needless to say I am elated and can't thank Ms. Tracee enough!  Check out all of the amazing women she highlighted.  Honored to be a part of it!

PS. I know you have fashion down, but I would love to be a fashion contributor on your site.  I'm serious.  Please let me know what I need to do and I'm on it...I'm here and I'm ready! (<-If you don't ask. You have zero opportunity).

Salt & Pepper

One of my favorite spring trends is black and white.  It's classic, crisp, clean and believe it or not, versatile.  You can wear it in many different ways from mixed print to color blocked.  In most cases you already have both in your closet.  Start putting them together and see what amazing outfit pops up. 

The best part about a color trend is that you can put your own stamp on it, remix it just the way you want and make a statement.  However, one thing you can't do (in my humble opinion) is mix black with a dingy white.  Make sure it's bleach, just got it out the package, snow white. 

And yes, for all those asking, there is a difference between off-white and dingy white.  One is a color and the other is something you need to retire.
