Adieu to Summer

Ugg.  Some of you may already have experienced this but due to an usually long summer in The Bay, I had not. This morning I woke up to a torrential downpour.  OK.  I am exaggerating.  But it was wet and cold and I wanted to crawl back into bed.

It was hard to admit.

But it was time.

Summer was and is officially over.

In honor of the amazing season, check out one of my fav summer outfits.  It has color, it has an amazing print AND super fly colored jeans from Height Goddess.  Not to mention the beautiful statement necklace from one of my fav local boutiques, Collage Clothing Lounge.

I loved wearing it on those breezy summer days where you are walking around without a care in the world. Ah, the memories.  Like the corner of my mind...

Let me stop because one thing you don't want me to do is sing lol

Well summer, it's been real.  Now onto all of the amazing fall and winter fashions! Woo Hoo!

Leather Love

Real or faux, you will see leather all over the place this season.

I caution you.

Don't take it too far.

Nobody (and I mean nobody) wants to see a head-to-toe leather look.  Use it as an accent or a statement but NOT as the entire fit.  The world thanks you.

I love these tall options!  I already purchased the Alloy pants and can't wait to pair them with an oversized sweater and some ankle boots.  How are you going to rock your leather?

HG Fall Look Book: Behind the Scenes

There are some days in your life that you will never forget.  The day I shot the Height Goddess Fall 12 Look Book is one of them.  While you all know that I LOVE HG clothes, the team behind Height Goddess is equally amazing.

HEIGHT GODDESS LOOK BOOK: FALL STYLE 2012. Featuring Moi:) Check out all of the amazing fall looks that Height Goddess has this season. The Behind the Scenes Video (below) is fab! Stay tuned for 'part 2' coming soon:)

I flew into Dallas and was greeted by the amazing Lameka Weeks (Height Goddess Owner and Creative Director).  She had a gift bag complete with snacks (which we all know makes this tall girl happy).  We immediately bonded and I can truly say that I have another tall friend for life.

BEHIND THE SCENES AT THE HEIGHT GODDESS FALL LOOK BOOK SHOOT. HG Owner and Creative Director, Lameka Weeks and I taking a break in the shade at the shoot. It was a fall shoot but the weather was SUMMER HOT.We went to her studio and checked out all of the looks.  I was in heaven!  Seeing all of the fall items before anyone else was a treat.  I got all giggly inside.  This is where I met Height Goddess Fashion Director extraordinaire Porsche Montgomery.  Along with her, I picked out the looks that I felt reflected my personal style.

Fashion Fix Stylist Porsche Montgomery makes sure everything is in the right place. The day of the shoot (complete with strong coffee for the 5am wake-up call), the Height Goddess glam squad made this tall girl feel (and look) like a fierce, fab, tall drink of water.  Kassie Coleman (make-up) and Shontae Parker (hair) went to work and I was beautified in no time.

Make-up artist Kassie Coleman got me all purty. Kassie and Shontae kept me looking right all shoot long. They also got a calf workout. This 6'6" is not easy to reach. The Art Director for the shoot was the one and only Karie Williams.  She put everything together, kept us on time and brought the entire project to life.  She picked out amazing locations including Indigo 1745 which also carries Height Goddess apparel.

Last but certainly not least, the man, the myth, the legend, photographer Tim Corey.  His eye made the Height Goddess Look Book amazing.  You gotta love a man that makes you look beautiful.  His talent is very much appreciated.

Photographer Tim Corey not only took amazing pictures, he also cooled this tall girl off. That Dallas heat was no joke.At the end of the day, we shot an amazing fall look book.  I was and continue to be honored that Height Goddess picked me to wear their amazing fall collection in this campaign.

I truly love the clothes and wouldn't blog about them if I didn't.  The experience is something I will NEVER forget and I look forward to knowing Lameka Weeks and the HG Crew for years to come:)

Tall Never Looked So Good!

PS.  I gotta include this man.  He was passing by the shoot and couldn't jump in this photo fast enough.  Apparently being sandwhiched by 2 Height Goddesses was on his bucket List and boy did he get to mark it off!  As you can see, he was in tall heaven.

Dare to be YOU

TallSWAG was Featured on Essence.com for their amazing Dare to Be You Campaign! I'm elated. Over the moon. Giddy. This tall girl is doing the happy dance and won't be stopping any time soon.

Why am I so happy?

Besides the obvious reason of being on the prestigious magazines website, it's that the post may have reached a tall person out there who needed to hear that they are unequivocally beautiful!  Say it loud and never forget to say it proud...tall is beautiful!

I wasn't always this confident.  I didn't always dare to be me.  I am remarkably grateful and feel truly blessed to be in the position that I am today...a tall, confident woman who today and everyday DARES TO BE ME!

Dare to be YOU!

Dare To Be YOU! Tall is beautiful. Never forget it:) Click to find out what the campaign is all about.

I'm Still Here

I know.  It has been WAY too long since my last post.  I have missed you and I hope you have missed me:)

What in the world have I been up too?  It's a nasty four letter word that I really don't like to say. W-O-R-K.

While I have had a full time job the entire time since I started the blog, there are 'seasons' to what I do.  I constantly work but some times are different than others.  Depending on the season my workload speeds up and overtime is a friend that I become reacquainted with.  Are you confused?  Let me explain...

I work for the Golden State Warriors.  It's an NBA team in Oakland, CA.  I am the Game Operations Manger.  What the heck is that?  In a nutshell, I manage everything that you see in a game besides the actual play of the players on the court.  This means, all of the entertainment, video elements, concourse interactives, game night interns etc.  It's a very exciting job and I am blessed to have it.

With that said, as the season draws near, the work changes.  It's a different type of work than in the off season.  In the off season, it's a ton of planning, tryouts and for the most part regular hours.  While in the season, I don't know what a regular hour is and there is something new daily.  For example, these are some of the things I have been doing in the past month:

1.  Interviewed a ton of interns.  We have a staff of 30+ interns that help us execute anything and everything on game nights and we needed to hire some newbies for our team.

2.  Directed and produced a Warriors Gangnam 'spoof' that went viral.  The Warriors Girls, our Hype Man Franco Finn, our camera lady/editor extraordinaire Janet and I spent long hours putting the video together and it totally paid off. I put together all of the costume and props, picked the locations, coordinated everything and (as mentioned) directed and produced the vid.  Take a look:

3. After months of preparation, shot the 2013 Warrior Girls Swimsuit Calendar.  It was a 3 day non-stop shoot in Napa, CA.  We are going through the photos now and it's going to be amazing.  Here is one of the behind the scenes shots I posted to my Instagram @TallSWAG:

3. Booked most of our halftime acts for the entire season.  With 41 regular season games, that's a lot of entertainment to book.  I like to get the halftimes done early.

4. Media Day.  This is one of our most important days because we get time with the players to capture most of the video content that we need for the season.  There is a lot of planning and brainstorming that goes into the day.  Here's a shot of our whole set-up.  We have 2 of these stations and 3 hours to capture video from all of the players.  For more behind the scenes photos of or Media Day, click the pic:

As I said, these are just some of the things I have done in the past month so I think you get a gist of the workload.

I say all of that to say this, please bear with me.  I love sharing our tall, fabulous lives.  TallSWAG is truly my passion and soon I will get my work/life balance back on track:) Expect regular posts soon!
